Frequently Asked Questions
Can more than one certification body do my audits?
Yes, you have the flexibility to choose any auditing body of your preference. However, ensure that your chosen certification body is on the approved list of your client to maintain compliance.
Can I choose my auditor?
No, the audit process maintains its integrity, transparency, and objectivity by randomly assigning auditors by the respective certification bodies. This ensures fairness and impartiality in the overall assessment.
Can I do my SIZA Social and/or SIZA Environmental audit outside of my peak operational period?
No, SIZA audits must be conducted when your packhouse is operational, with a minimum of 66% of your workforce present. This ensures an accurate assessment of your operations during regular working conditions.
Can I only present workers involved in the commodity that I wish to export in my social compliance audit process?
No, all workers employed by your company must participate in the social compliance audit. The focus of the audit extends beyond the specific commodity intended for export, encompassing all operational aspects of your business.
Can I get my certificate / completion letter straight after my audit?
No, you must ensure that all required corrections are submitted and approved by your auditor. Only upon the completion of the audit process and the approval of corrections will you receive your certificate or completion letter.
If I submit all my social/enviro corrections, will my audit rating improve?
Submitting all social and environmental corrections is essential for maintaining compliance; however, it will not improve your audit rating. Audit ratings are determined based on identified risks and findings during the audit process. Failure to submit corrections promptly may result in a downgrade of your achieved rating.
How long in advance must I book my audits?
It is recommended to book your audits 3 to 6 months in advance to ensure adequate preparation and scheduling. This timeframe allows for proper planning and coordination of audit activities, minimizing disruptions to your operations, and assisting the certification body to group audits, leading to cost saving.
